Robert Steele Joins BJ’s Wholesale Club’s Board of Directors

Robert Steele is joining BJ’s Wholesale Club Inc.’s board of directors, effective March 24.

Steele currently sits on an advisory board for New York-based private equity firm CVC Capital Partners, which along with Los Angeles-based Leonard Green & Partners, is the principal owner of BJ’s. Before joining CVC, Steele was vice chairman of global health and well-being at Procter & Gamble from 2007 until he retired in 2011.

He held various leadership positions in his 35 years with Cincinnati-based P&G, among them group president of global household care, group president of North America, VP North America home care, and a range of brand management/sales positions.

Additionally, Steele has served on several boards of directors, including those of Kellogg Co. and Beam Co., and for more than 20 years he was a trustee of The St. Joseph Home for Handicapped Children. Along with his advisory role at CVC, he serves on the boards of directors of Keurig Green Mountain Inc., and Berry Plastics.

Westborough, Mass.-based BJ's operates 213 membership warehouse clubs and 128 gas stations in 15 eastern U.S. states.
