Safeway’s Blackhawk Launches Direct-Deposit Debit

Blackhawk Network is partnering with Prepaid Resources to launch its BenefitsDirect service for automated direct deposit enrollment and management.

The addition of BenefitsDirect provides added value to Blackhawk Network’s PayPower Visa Prepaid Cards, with which customers have the power and flexibility of a Visa debit card, without requiring a bank account or credit check. The PayPower Visa Prepaid Card can easily be purchased through retail distribution locations, such as grocery and convenience stores, or online.

Once registered, the cards can be reloaded over and over again by direct deposit and with cash using the companion REloadit Packs. The cards can be used anywhere Visa debit cards are accepted.

The Blackhawk Network platform and Prepaid Resources’ proprietary technology allow cardholders to electronically enroll to have their federal benefits (social security, supplemental security income, veterans, civil service and railroad retirement) directly deposited onto their designated prepaid cards.

”This partnership with Prepaid Resources greatly benefits consumers by making it easier for them to have immediate access to their money, effortlessly,” said Talbott Roche, president, Blackhawk Network. ”Our goal is to continue to look for ways that allow consumers to get the most benefit out of their prepaid products while increasing convenience and value, and that is exactly what this partnership does.”

Blackhawk Network, a subsidiary of Safeway Inc., is a leading provider of prepaid and financial payments products for consumers and businesses.
