Shaw’s Reopens 3 Stores

Shaw’s Supermarkets is celebrating the grand re-opening of three stores in Massachusetts and Vermont, with renovations designed to provide customers with a comfortable shopping experience and quality products that are healthy and easily prepared, with a central focus on delivering premium customer service.

“From the products and services to design layout, Shaw’s is committed to delivering a shopping experience that is tailored to meet the needs of our local customers,” said Larry Wahlstrom, Shaw’s president. “These redesigned stores will bring a greater selection and variety to our neighborhood customers, while offering a fresh, new feel to their shopping experience. We look forward to continuing to provide the freshness, convenience and value our shoppers expect.”

The remodeled Shaw’s and Star Market stores – in Marshfield and Wareham, Mass., and Middlebury, Vt. – feature a variety of equipment upgrades, as well as expanded offerings in many categories:

- A new seafood department that offers fresh, restaurant-quality seafood available at supermarket prices.
- A larger selection of fresh produce, including an expanded offering of organic produce from Supervalu’s Wild Harvest line.
- Expanded offerings of natural and organic products in dairy, grocery, produce and frozen foods.
- Fresh-baked artisan breads and gourmet desserts in the new bakery department.

Shaw’s will celebrate with grand re-openings with ribbon cutting ceremonies at each location. Federal, state and local public officials have been invited to join Wahlstrom and Shaw’s executives Dave McGlinchey and Tom Vesey at the locations. As part of the ceremonies, Shaw’s will make donations to local organizations in communities served by each store.

Shaw’s is one of the oldest continuously operated supermarkets in the United States with its roots dating to 1860. It operates 174 store locations in five New England states.

Shaw’s and Star Market are a division of Minneapolis-based Supervalu Inc., one of the largest companies in the U.S. grocery channel with estimated annual sales of $38 billion.
