ShopRite Supermarkets Names Brett Wing President

ShopRite Supermarkets, Inc. (SRS), which owns and operates 34 ShopRite stores in New Jersey and New York, has appointed Brett Wing president of the company. Wing succeeds Dave Figurelli, who retired this month after 15 years with SRS.

“Brett is uniquely qualified to take the reins at SRS and move the company forward in a challenging and competitive environment,” noted Joe Colalillo, chairman and CEO of retailer cooperative Wakefern Food Corp., of which SRS is a wholly owned subsidiary. “He has spent his career in the supermarket business and brings to SRS a broad and deep knowledge of the industry.”

Bringing nearly four decades of experience to his new role, Wing will oversee day-to-day operations and strategy planning for stores in the Hudson Valley and Capital regions of New York state, as well as locations in New Jersey.

Wing, who joined SRS in 2015 as EVP, started his grocery career as a bagger at Safeway and rose through the ranks to executive positions by creating next-generation store formats, improving customer experiences and heading store expansions.

Before he came to SRS, Wing was VP of FoodMaxx, a division of Modesto, Calif.-based Save Mart Supermarkets, and spent 25 years with Cub Foods, a division of Minneapolis-based Supervalu, holding various roles at locations across the United States.

Wakefern, the largest retailer co-op in the United States, consists of more than 270 ShopRite supermarkets in six states.
