Southeastern Grocers Offers Further Deep Discounts

Southeastern Grocers, parent company of Bi-Lo and Winn-Dixie, is dropping the prices on grocery essentials by as much as 50 percent with its new Down Down program.

Starting Jan. 6, customers can find deeply discounted items by looking for the Big Red (helping) Hand throughout the stores. Prices are guaranteed not to change for at least six months, the company said.

“We know that almost one in five people in the Southeast are relying on food subsidies to feed their families every week,” noted Ian McLeod, president and CEO of Jacksonville, Fla.-based Southeastern Grocers. “It is therefore not surprising that our customer surveys report that ‘affordable prices’ is the most important requirement from a grocery store.”

The initiative comes in the wake of the grocer’s New Regular Prices, which slashed prices of popular grocery items. Down Down covers more than 400 frequently purchased products, on top of the 3,000-plus New Regular Prices that have already been lowered.

“Savings are so significant that a family shopping at Bi-Lo or Winn-Dixie will now save over $700 this year as a result of these lower prices,” observed McLeod. “This is a meaningful difference for any household budget.”

Southeastern Grocers, which also owns the Harveys chain of stores, employs more than 66,000 associates in about 756 grocery stores, 145 liquor stores and 504 in-store pharmacies throughout Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina and South Carolina.
