Star Market Reopens 4 Stores

Star Market has held grand-reopening ceremonies for four of its stores to mark its commitment to the greater Boston area. The refreshed stores are in Allston, Brighton, Mt. Auburn-Cambridge and Belmont.

“Since 1915, Star Market has been proudly serving customers in Massachusetts, and today the company is focused on becoming the premier food retailer in greater Boston,” said VP and General Manager Joe Kelley. “The same values such as hard work, family and a principle of serving the customer first still apply today, more than 100 years later. These four grand reopenings showcase our commitment to local communities and providing our valued customers with stores that feature an enhanced shopping experience with greater selections, convenience and variety.”

The stores now offer more varieties of fresh produce, meat and seafood, as well as an extensive selection of natural, gluten-free, organic and local items across all departments. Additionally, the Mt. Auburn and the Brighton stores now have Starbucks locations.

Further store features include expanded prepared meals and hot foods featuring freshly made pizza, grilled chicken and a noodle bar; a meat department with a a larger section of all-natural and organic options; new pick-your own cases with a larger product variety in the bakery; in-store fresh-cut fruits and vegetables; and bulk nut displays, grains and store-made peanut butter.

The grand-reopening ceremonies also recognized longtime employees for their many years of service – more than a half-century in two cases – and customers were invited to a grand-reopening open house that featured product samples and free groceries, including products from Star Market’s exclusive Own Brands.

Part of Albertsons Cos., West Bridgewater, Mass.-based Star Market operates 19 Boston-area store locations employing about 3,000 employees.
