Stater Bros. Hits 75 This Year

Regional independent Stater Bros. is celebrating 75 years since founders Cleo and Leo Stater opened the very first Stater Bros. grocery store in Yucaipa, Calif., and in honor of its diamond anniversary the grocer is planning a year-long celebration.

“Celebrating 75 years is an unbelievable accomplishment for any company,” stated Jack H. Brown, chairman of the board and CEO of Stater Bros. Markets. “This milestone is certainly a testament to the loyalty and dedication of all the past and present members of our Stater Bros. supermarket family; to our devoted customers, many of whom are fifth generation Stater Bros. shoppers; and to the partnerships which have been established with our supplier friends.”

During the coming year, Stater Bros. will reward its valued customers and loyal employees with a variety of celebratory events and promotions.

The grocer will kick off its celebration this month by providing all 18,000 associates with a commemorative 75th Anniversary lapel pin. In addition, Stater Bros. is teaming up with the supplier community to provide valuable promotions and savings each month in every Stater Bros. supermarket.

Also in celebration of this major milestone, Stater Bros. will publish a hard cover 75th Anniversary Journal which will chronologically illustrate the company’s journey through the years, from one small neighborhood grocery store to one of America’s largest supermarket chains.

San Bernardino-based Stater Bros. operates 167 supermarkets in Southern California.
