Stew Leonard’s Offering Monthly Kids’ Cooking Classes

Stew Leonard's Newington, Conn., store will be the venue for a series of monthly themed cooking classes for children from 5 to 12 years old. Scheduled to take place from September through December, the approximately 90-minute classes enable participating kids to receive hands-on instruction in preparing dishes associated with a specific holiday or event. Kids will also learn how to measure ingredients, cooperation skills in the kitchen and the importance of food safety.

The cost is $25 per child, which is payable at the time of registration. Sessions will be held in the Newington store’s Executive Kitchen, and children don’t need to be accompanied by an adult.

The themes, dates and times of the classes are as follows: Healthy Back to School Snacks (Saturday, Sept. 17 at 11 a.m.); Halloween Cupcake Decorating (Saturday, Oct. 15 at 11 a.m.); Getting Squishy for Squash (Saturday, Nov. 12 at 11 a.m.); and Holiday Cookie Class (Friday, Dec. 9 at 6 p.m.).

Norwalk, Conn.-based Stew Leonard's operates four stores in Connecticut and New York.
