Stop & Shop to Celebrate Centennial

Quincy, Mass.-based Stop & Shop Supermarket Co., a division of Ahold USA, is set to celebrate its 100th birthday this Saturday, Sept. 6.

All Shop & Shop stores across Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island will offer customers free cake and balloons from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In addition, customers who shop any time on Sept. 6 and purchase products with their Stop & Shop card will be automatically entered into the Stop & Shop 100th Anniversary Patriots Sweepstakes. The sweepstakes prizes include a trip for two to the Super Bowl in February 2015; tickets for the New England Patriots vs. New York Jets football game on Oct. 16; a catered tailgate party; signed Patriots gear; and five $100 Stop & Shop gift cards.

In addition, select stores will offer an appearance from a New England Patriots alumni player or cheerleader, balloon artists with face painting for kids, sampling of Clif Bars or produce, and $10 gift cards randomly presented to customers with Stop & Shop products in their completed carts.

Stop & Shop operates 395 stores.
