Supervalu’s Shopper’s Prez Moves to Corporate Merchandising Post

Tim Lowe, current president of Supervalu’s Lanham, Md.-based Shopper’s Food Warehouse division, will join the company’s corporate merchandising team as SVP.

Reporting to Janel Haugarth, EVP of merchandising and logistics, Lowe will transition to his new senior merchandising role over a period of time and will continue to lead the 56-store Shopper’s subsidiary until a new president is named by Kevin Holt, the Minneapolis-based company’s recently named EVP of retail operations.

“Tim is an energetic and passionate leader who will join an already strong merchandising leadership team,” said Haugarth. “His operations and retail leadership experience will enable him to ensure alignment between merchandising and operations, and other functional and store level groups. Merchandising continues to focus on many top priorities, driving sales and bringing many important programs to life,” Haugarth continued, adding: “I am confident that the addition of Tim to merchandising will further position us for success.”

In his new role, Lowe will focus on enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of merchandising while driving execution of national programs. In addition, all merchandising, produce and banner merchants will report to Lowe’s team.

With nearly 20 years of retail experience, Lowe first joined Supervalu in 2009 as SVP of operations at Shopper’s and assumed his current post in 2010. Earlier in his career, he was SVP of operations at Burlington Coat Factory and also spent five years with Meijer Inc., where he served as VP of general merchandise for retail stores, as well as spending seven years with Walmart.
