Tops Opens New Gas Station and Xpress Store

Tops Markets LLC, a full-service grocery retailer in upstate New York and northern Pennsylvania, has opened a fueling station and Xpress convenience store in Hamburg, N.Y., as part of a larger plan to renovate its McKinley Parkway Tops facility.

The new site is one of Tops’ 40 fueling facilities, including 27 in western New York, four in the Rochester area, two in central New York, five in mid-state and two in Pennsylvania.

“As we developed plans for the renovation and expansion of the McKinley Parkway location, the addition of the fueling facility was identified as a way to better serve the needs of our customers while providing them with exceptional value,” said Frank Curci, Tops’ president and CEO.

Customers who shop at the McKinley Parkway location will be able to redeem their fuel rewards right at the pump through Tops Markets’ Gas Points program. Shoppers who use their BonusCard at nearby Tops locations will earn points on qualifying purchases. Customers earn one Gas Point for every dollar they spend and can track the points at the bottom of their receipt. Every $100 a customer spends equals 10 cents off per gallon of Tops gasoline. To redeem the points, customers just scan their BonusCard at a Tops gas pump. The savings can equal 10, 20, 30 cents or more off per gallon.

The fueling facility will consist of four, double-sided, self-service fuel dispensers, offering three grades of high-quality gasoline: regular, mid-grade and premium. Customers will have their choice of paying at the pump using a major credit card, or at the walk-in Tops Xpress convenience location.

Within the Tops Xpress, customers will also be able to purchase made to order foods, including breakfast sandwiches, pizzas, salads, subs, wraps, tacos, burgers, snack food items, beverages, N.Y. state lottery instant and online games, automotive maintenance items, such as windshield wiper fluid and motor oil, local and national newspapers, and other seasonal items.

The fueling station is part of a $1 million overall renovation of the McKinley Parkway Tops that began in April 2011 and is set to be complete at the end of the year. The McKinley Parkway Tops Markets is open 24 hours, and the fueling facility will be open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., daily. The store will remain open throughout the entire renovation.

Tops Markets, LLC, is based in Williamsville, N.Y., and operates 132 full-service supermarkets: 126 company-owned and six franchise locations.
