Weis Markets Hires Richard Gunn as Merchandising Chief

Richard Gunn has joined Weis Markets as its SVP of merchandising and marketing, as which he will oversee the northeast regional grocer’s fresh and center store merchandising, sales and procurement, marketing and advertising.

Gunn, who will report to Weis COO Kurt Schertle, has more than 30 years of food retailing experience. Prior to joining Weis Markets, he was EVP of merchandising and marketing at K-VA-T Food Stores  in Kentucky, Virginia and Tennessee. Earlier in his career, he worked in various store and regional positions before moving into marketing and merchandising.

Founded in 1912, Sunbury, Pa.-based Weis Markets Inc. operates 163 stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, New York and West Virginia.
