WinCo’s New Tacoma Store Adds Earth-Friendliness to its Offerings

WinCo Foods, LLC this Saturday will open its newest discount supermarket in Tacoma, Washington.

The 104,000 square foot store will offer the traditional features consumers expect at WinCo Foods -- like its wall of values, extensive bulk foods department, and fresh produce, meat, seafood, deli, and bakery departments – but also makes extensive use of sustainable technologies that deliver energy efficiencies and savings of from 5 percent to 25 percent on refrigeration, heating, cooling, and lighting the store and product cases.

Ray Searcy, manager of the new store, comes to Tacoma from Vancouver, Wash and is a 19 year veteran of the company with a particular expertise in meat sales. He will lead store operations with assistant managers Kevin Boob and Tone Thammavongsa,.

Boise, Idaho-based WinCo Foods is an employee owned company that operates 79 stores and 4 distribution centers in the states of Washington, Idaho, Nevada, California, Oregon, and Utah.
