Latest MOM’s Organic Market to Feature Food Made to Order

Organic grocery chain MOM’s Organic Market is opening a store in Merrifield, Va., that will feature fresh organic food made to order at Naked Lunch kitchen. The menu will include Steam Bowls consisting of seasonal organic vegetables on beds of whole grains and topped with house-made sauce, as well as veggie burgers, raw juice, cold kombucha on tap, and house-brewed iced tea.

Located in the Mosaic District of Merrifield, the new store will also offer 100 percent organic produce, local and organic meat and dairy items, bulk food, sustainable seafood, gluten-free products, raw food, organic and craft beer, and an extensive wellness department, among other items and services.

The market was built according to MOM’s environmentally conscious principles and uses renewable building materials, low-VOC paint, LED bulbs, and energy-efficient closed-door coolers. In common with the Rockville, Md.-based grocer’s other locations, the Merrifield store is 100 percent wind-powered. It additionally has recycling stations for CFL bulbs and batteries, a free water-bottle refill station, and electric car chargers in the parking lot.

The store’s grand-opening celebrations are set to take place over Sept. 14, 15 and 16, with festivities including local vendor demonstrations, food samples, goody bags, henna artists and kids’ activities.

MOM’s operates nine stores in Alexandria, Herndon and Merrifield, Va., and Bowie, College Park, Frederick, Jessup, Rockville and Timonium, Md. Another location is scheduled to open later this year in Waldorf, Md.
