Price Rite Store Opening in Camden, N.J.

Price Rite's newest location, which will debut in Camden, N.J., with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, Oct. 15, is the city's first new grocery store to open in the city in nearly 40 years. Although Price Rite stores are usually owned by Keasbey, N.J.-based retailer cooperative Wakefern Food Corp., this store is owned by Wakefern member Ravitz Family Markets, which also plans to open a ShopRite store in Camden in 2016. The Ravitz family currently owns five ShopRite stores in New Jersey's Burlington and Camden counties.

Slated to attend the ceremony, along with the Ravitzes, are Camden Mayor Dana L. Redd, State Sen. Donald Norcross, City Council members and other local officials. The 43,000-square foot store will bring more than 80 full- and part-time jobs to the community.

"Partnering with the city to bring local residents not one but two brand-new supermarkets is a tremendous privilege," said Jason Ravitz, VP of retail operations for Cherry Hill, N.J.-based Ravitz Family Markets.

"This is the beginning of what I believe will be a lasting relationship with a strong community partner, Ravitz Family Markets," added Redd. "Our residents will certainly be impressed by the newly renovated store, not to mention the high-quality and affordable products offered by Price Rite."

Warehouse Club-style Shopping

The Price Rite banner offers customers a warehouse club-style shopping experience without membership fees or bulk-buying requirements. The self-service format includes fresh produce delivered daily, packaged meats, baked goods, a range of private label and national grocery brands, and dairy and frozen foods.

To further lower costs and pass along those savings to customers, Price Rite doesn't advertise or publish a weekly circular, and shoppers are encouraged to use their own bags or buy them as needed for 10 cents apiece, which helps the environment while keeping costs down.

Additionally, the Camden store will feature such green technology and equipment as glass doors on dairy cases, and energy-efficient lighting and refrigeration.

Price Rite operates 56 stores in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Maryland, Virginia and New Jersey.
