RILA Debuts Sustainability Resource Library

The Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA) has introduced the Retail Sustainability Management Resource Library. Developed in collaboration with Netherlands-based CB&I, an energy infrastructure-focused company, the library provides tools, case studies and organizations to help retailers improve their sustainability programs.

The Resource Library is organized along the lines of the Retail Sustainability Management Maturity Matrix, released last month, which aims to help executives identify ways to build strong environmental sustainability programs. Used in tandem, the matrix and library are designed to enable retail executives to benchmark their companies’ sustainability initiatives, plot next steps for their programs, and access educational tools and case studies to guide them as they attain their organizations’ goals.

In common with the matrix, the library is made up of seven sections: Strategy & Commitment, People & Tools, Visibility, Retail Operations, Supply Chain, Products, and Environmental Issues.

"Our hope is that the Resource Library, in conjunction with the Maturity Matrix, will establish itself as an invaluable resource for any and all retailers who are interested in improving sustainability practices," noted Adam Siegel, VP for sustainability and retail operations at Arlington, Va.-based RILA, adding that the organization hoped to see "more retail sustainability programs come to fruition with the help of these tools."
