Food Industry Association Execs Group Honors Outgoing Prez

The board of directors of Food Industry Association Executives (FIAE) paid tribute to the organization's departing president, Jim Olsen, at its recent 87th Annual Convention, Rings of Leadership, held in Park City, Utah. Olsen, who will step down in April 2015, has served the national group since 2010.

During the tribute, Olsen, and his wife Andrea, were treated to a video presentation, the gift of a trip, and a large basket of food items from around the United States.

"Jim brings a unique combination of professionalism and friendship to the entire FIAE family," noted FIAE Chairman Jamie Phufl. “Under Jim's leadership, FIAE has become the premier organization in the country representing the diverse industry and the multitude of issues facing the retailers, wholesalers and manufacturers. He will be missed by the entire membership.”

The association has named Beverly Lynch, who has held roles with such trade groups as the National Grocers Association, the New Jersey Food Council and New Jersey Food Processors Association, to succeed Olsen, effective April 1, 2015.

More than 97 attendees, representing 46 state and national food organizations, took part in the yearly convention, which includes roundtable discussions on key issues, as well as innovative association programs and initiatives. The 88th Annual Convention is scheduled for Nov. 11-13, 2015.

Highland, Utah-based FIAE represents local, state and regional food association executives, who in turn represent more than 95 percent of the grocery retail industry.
