NFRA Reveals Golden Penguin Winners

The National Frozen & Refrigerated Foods Association (NFRA) has bestowed 20 Gold Penguins and two Amber Penguins for the best promotions during the 31st annual March Frozen Food Month. Additionally, 31 companies received Silver Penguin awards. The awards recognize merchandising and promotional excellence in the frozen food industry.

The Amber Penguin denotes three consecutive Gold awards in the same category. The Gold and Amber awards will be presented at a banquet held during NFRA’s Convention in Orlando, Fla., in October, while silver awards are usually given out at the local level at appropriate frozen food association meetings.

Marketing professionals from accredited colleges and universities acted as judges. Winners demonstrated the effective use of promotional elements such as in-store programs, advertising, consumer education, merchandising, POS materials and special displays.

NFRA will also award Golden Penguins for marketing programs undertaken during June Dairy Month and the June/July Summer Favorites Ice Cream & Novelties display contest.

Harrisburg, Pa.-based NFRA, a nonprofit trade association representing all segments of the frozen and refrigerated foods industry, also sponsors October "Cool Food for Kids" educational outreach program.
