BJ’s Wholesale Club Launches Co-branded MasterCard

BJ’s Wholesale Club has introduced the My BJ's Perks MasterCard, a program providing such rewards as 10-cents-off-per-gallon savings on BJ's gas every day; earnings up to 5 percent back on purchases in club and at BJs.com; 2 percent back on eating out and non-BJ’s gas purchases; and 1 percent back on purchases made everywhere else MasterCard is accepted.

Additionally, the My BJ's Perks Program is the first in the wholesale club category to give members the flexibility of on-demand award redemption in $20 increments during checkout in-club, according to the Westborough, Mass.-based company. "One of my favorite program features is our members' ability to automatically redeem their earnings during checkout," affirmed BJ's President and CEO Laura Sen. "They have the choice to build their awards for greater savings off a bigger purchase, or they can put them to use during their weekly shop."

Qualifying BJ's Inner Circle, BJ's Business and BJ's Perks Rewards members in the United States are eligible to apply for a card via instant applications in-club or online. In partnership with branded credit-card program provider Alliance Data Retail Services, the program offers BJ's Perk Elite and BJ's Perk Plus cards.

The BJ's Perks Elite credit card has a $100 membership fee and members earn 5 percent back on most purchases in and outside of BJ's, while the BJ's Perks Plus credit card has a $50 membership fee and earns members 3 percent back on most purchases in and outside the retailer.

"Through our data-driven marketing expertise, we will use insights and analytics to drive cardholder engagement and create relevant offers that benefit BJ’s loyal club members," noted Melisa Miller, president of Columbus, Ohio-based Alliance Data Retail Services.

BJ's operates 206 clubs and 119 gas stations in 15 eastern states.
