Unified Grocers Joins Security Standards Council

Unified Grocers joined PCI Security Standards Council as a new participating organization, and will work to achieve and improve data security through ongoing development of Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), PIN Transaction Security (PTS) requirements and the Payment Application Data Security Standard (PA-DSS).

Endorsed by the major credit card companies, the PCI Security Standards require retailers and service providers that store, process or transmit customer payment card data to adhere to information security controls and processes to ensure data protection as part of a business-as-usual security procedure. As a participant, Unified has a voice in the standards setting process and will receive previews of the standards and supporting materials to provide feedback to shape the final versions.

Unified also can recommend new initiatives, participate in webinars and question-and-answer sessions with Council representatives as well as review and discuss new versions of PCI Security Standards.

“We are excited to join PCI as a participating organization and we look forward to being part of the security conversation with other payment security leaders,” said Mike Brown, Unified’s VP of retail services.
