Associated Grocers of New England Adds Board Member

At its recent annual stockholders meeting, Associated Grocers of New England voted in its newest board member, John D. Beaupre, co-owner of Ayottes Country Store, Mountainside Grocers and Sugarloaf Grocery, all in his hometown of Carrabassett Valley Maine, and Anni’s Market, in Kingfield, Maine.

Beaupre has been vice chair of the Carrabassett Valley Board of Selectmen since 2000, and served on the Associated Grocers of Maine board of directors from 1996 to 2005 as a member, and then as vice chair from 2003 to 2005. He was chair of the board’s audit committee from 2000 to 2004.

In the area of community outreach, he’s chairman of the Ayotte Scholarship Fund, which has raised more than $100,000 for local student scholarships. Beaupre also founded and created the Maine Celebrity Classic, which has raised more than $200,000 for the Alfond Youth Center, in Waterville, Maine, where he recently was appointed to the board of directors. His honors include the Romeo J. Paganucci Award for his volunteer work with the Boys and Girls Club, the Associated Grocers of Maine Retailer of the Year award, and Business of the Year and Member of the Year from the Sugarloaf Chamber of Commerce.

“John’s strong commitment to his customers and to his community makes him an excellent addition to the AGNE board,” noted Associated Grocers of New England, the largest retailer-owned wholesale grocery distributor in the region, serving independent grocers of every size and format.
