Lidl, Network Services Co. Ink Distribution Agreement

Ahead of its highly publicized entry into the United States next month, German hard-discount grocer Lidl and Network Services Co. have signed a distribution agreement expanding a long-standing relationship Lidl maintains with Network's European distribution partner, INPACS.

“The grocer’s need for a supply management program that could scale quickly was a key consideration in finding the right partner in the United States,” noted Alan Tomblin, CEO of Schaumburg, Ill.-based Network. “Our unique structure strikes the ideal balance between control and flexibility to accommodate an organization's evolving needs.”

“Many companies we work with require international distribution, and we have many customers looking to expand beyond Europe,” said Holger Jung, global corporate account director at Blankenfelde-Mahlow, Germany-based INPACS, who led the efforts to connect Network and Lidl. “Network’s global capabilities in Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, and the U.S. allow us to present our customers a strong, truly global solution.”

Added Network Chief Sales and Marketing Officer Kevin Rudd: “Years ago, Network recognized the shift toward a global economy and strategically partnered with INPACS to accommodate international customers. Lidl currently operates more than 10,000 stores in 27 countries across Europe.
