WinCo Foods Purchases Oklahoma City Site

WinCo Foods, based in Boise, Idaho, has purchased a site in Oklahoma City, Okla. The site currently is home to a former Target store and WinCo plans to demolish the building to build a new one, but no date was given as to when that would occur or when the retailer plans to open the new store.

The company typically plans several stores when entering a new market but did not indicate when other property might be purchased for additional locations. According to a Price Edwards & Co. report, WinCo is scouting locations in northwest and west Oklahoma City, Moore and Midwest City, as reported by NewsOK.com. The chain entered the Dallas-Fort Worth market earlier this year with three stores and has a distribution center in Texas, which made expansion into Oklahoma easier.

The company also announced that it will open two new stores on Nov. 6 in Lewiston, Idaho and North Richland Hills, Texas. The stores feature WinCo's newer décor package designed to create an efficient, clean layout that highlights the product and coordinates with the hundreds of private label products the company continues to introduce.

WinCo operates 98 stores and five distribution centers in Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Idaho and Texas.
