    Due to make its official debut at next month’s NASFT Winter Fancy Food Show in manufacturer Alter Eco’s hometown of San Francisco, Dark Chocolate Quinoa: Midnight Crunch is the newest addition to the company’s line of Fair Trade, organic, carbon-neutral dark-chocolate bars. Blending smooth, rich dark chocolate with the crunch of whole grain quinoa (pronounced KEEN-wa) crisps, the vegan product is GMO-, soy- and gluten-free, with no artificial flavors or sweeteners. Each bar incorporates cocoa and quinoa from Fair Trade farming cooperatives in Bolivia and is manufactured in Switzerland, where it’s baked 12 times longer than comparable chocolate bars — a total of 72 hours — to ensure optimal taste, texture, and quinoa crunch. Offering 4 grams of dietary fiber and 2 grams of protein per serving, as well as no saturated fat, trans fats, cholesterol or sodium, a 3.5-ounce bar retails for a suggested $3.99.
