Kroger Central Div. Ups Steve Young to Ops VP

The Kroger Co. promoted Steve Young, a 30-year company veteran, to v.p. of operations at its Indianapolis-based Central Division.

Young had most recently held the corporate post of v.p. of process change. He has also been v.p. of operations positions in Kroger's Southwest and Mid-Atlantic divisions.

“Steve comes to the Central division with a wide range of store operations and merchandising leadership experience,” said Bob Moeder, president of Kroger’s Central division. “He keenly understands how best to meet the needs of customers and associates in our stores.”

Young began his career with Kroger in the Atlanta division, where he started in the stores.

It was not known at pressstime who Kroger will tap to replace Young’s Cincinnati corporate headquarters post.

Kroger Central Division has 153 food stores, 129 pharmacies and 51 fuel centers operating under five banners; Kroger, Scott’s, Owen’s, Hilander, and Pay Less, with locations primarily in Indiana and Illinois in addition to five stores in Missouri, one in Michigan and one in Ohio.
