    Kroger Features Nutrisystem Everyday Products

    New retail line targets healthy lifestyles and weight management solutions

    Fort Washington, Pa.-based Nutrisystem Inc. has introduced its Nutrisystem Everyday product line at Kroger supermarkets.

    Offering “real balanced nutrition,” Nutrisystem Everyday products are available in bars, smoothies, and bakery and breakfast items. Each product is portion controlled, low in fat and calories, and a good source of fiber and protein.

    The products will be merchandised together in the weight loss/weight management aisle and are aimed at consumers who aspire to eat healthier, as well as dieters who have achieved their weight-loss goals and are transitioning to everyday weight management.

    “We have long believed that retail provides a complementary channel to our existing direct business,” said Joe Redling, CEO of Nutrisystem. “The Nutrisystem brand stands for healthy, effective weight loss and weight management, and the demand for great-tasting products that support consumers in their healthy weight management objectives continues to increase. Nutrisystem Everyday gives consumers flexible everyday weight management solutions that are great tasting and nutritionally balanced products.”

    Nutrisystem Everyday has been designed for consumers who aspire to live a healthy lifestyle and understand that nutritious and balanced food choices can help them achieve that goal. This includes Nutrisystem customers who have met their weight-loss goals on the Nutrisystem Success weight-loss program and now desire great tasting snacks and weight-maintenance and meal replacement options that can fit into their busy lives.

    “The expansion into the retail channel is a natural progression given our strong consumer brand and reputation within the weight loss industry,” said Dianne Jacobs, SVP and GM of Nutrisystem Everyday. “We are very excited to debut our Nutrisystem Everyday products with Kroger. Our goal is to have broad distribution within all retail channels and with retailers who share our mission of bringing additional health and wellness options to consumers. We expect to be fully national by 2013 and we're receiving an enthusiastic response from the retail community who now has the opportunity to offer the Nutrisystem brand with the Nutrisystem Everyday line.”

    The Nutrisystem Everyday products include snack bars in Double Chocolate, Chocolate Peanut Butter and Fudge Graham; breakfast staples like Crunchy Granola and Maple & Brown Sugar Oatmeal; baked treats like Iced Carrot Cake and Wild Blueberry Muffin; and creamy smoothies in Double Chocolate and Vanilla.

    The healthy snacks marketplace is one of the fastest-growing food categories in the United States, driven by the demands of weight-conscious consumers who are looking for meal replacements and good for you snacks for their on the go lifestyles.
