The Kroger Co. and the United Food & Commercial Workers Union Local 700 in Indianapolis have reached a tentative agreement on a new contract, said the leading grocer. The new pact covers over 4,200 Kroger associates who work in 60 stores in and around Indianapolis and other parts of Indiana including Bloomington, Crawfordsville and Kokomo.
The UFCW will present the tentative agreement to its members for consideration in the coming days, details of which are not being released pending ratification.
In other Kroger news, the Cincinnati-based chain's 110-store, Memphis-based Delta division on Wednesday celebrated the grand reopening of a newly expanded Kroger in Cordova, following a $7.6 million renovation and expansion investment.
The 85,382-square-foot store at Trinity Commons shopping center features a new Starbucks Coffee branch, a pharmacy, and an expansive international foods section featuring products from 15 regions from around the globe, including Asian, Mexican, Thai and kosher foods. The expanded Kroger also offers an organic food section with 3,200 different items and a gas station, among other features.
