Kroger Pumping E85 in Michigan

CINCINNATI -- The Kroger Co. unveiled its first fuel centers in Michigan to sell E85 with a promotion running today (Wed., Jan. 30) that offers the blended alternative fuel for 85 cents a gallon.

Kroger will sell all other fuel products at regular retail prices. E85 - an alternative fuel that is a blend of 85 percent ethanol, which is made most often from corn, and 15 percent gasoline - currently sells for about $2.55 per gallon, about 30-40 cents a gallon cheaper than regular unleaded gas.

At Kroger’s E85 stations, it will sell the fuel, blended with 85 percent ethanol for flex-fuel cars, at the discounted rate between 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., according to the Flint Journal.
