The Kroger Co. has joined forces with redbox, one of the country’s most popular DVD rental kiosk providers, and PepsiCo to launch a year-long, multi-branded retail promotion that invites consumers to create the perfect movie night at home.
The “Make it a Movie Night” promotion, debuting this month at Kroger stores and banners nationwide, combines popular movie-watching snacks and beverages together in a single in-store promotion by rewarding consumers with a free one-night DVD rental from redbox with the purchase of any three Pepsi, Frito Lay or other participating products.
The three-way promotion “makes it more convenient and affordable for customers to enjoy movies at home with family and friends,” said Evan Anthony, VP of corporate advertising and marketing for Cincinnati-based Kroger.
Adds Gary Cohen, SVP, marketing and customer experience for Oakbrook Terrace, Ill.-based redbox, “With new movies released in redbox kiosks every week, the year-long ‘Make it a Movie Night’ in-store program provides Kroger customers and Pepsi fans with a reward they can redeem in-store and raises awareness of redbox’s presence at Kroger stores nationwide.”
Advertised through co-branded in-store displays, the promotion provides customers with an instant reward — a free one-night redbox rental that consumers can redeem at the redbox kiosk on-site. The program will be promoted through in-store point-of-sale signage throughout the soft drink, bagged snack, confection and microwave popcorn aisles of participating Kroger stores.
The buy-three, receive-a-one-night-free-redbox-movie-rental products include:
—Tostitos Tortilla Chips, all varieties/flavors, 9 ounces-15 5/8 ounces
