Kroger Workers in 3 Mid-South Markets Ratify New Labor Agreement

The Kroger Co. said yesterday that employees who are members of United Food & Commercial Workers Union Local 1995 in Nashville and Knoxville, Tenn., and Huntsville, Ala. have ratified a new labor agreement with the company.

Details of the contract were not released.

"This agreement maintains quality jobs and affordable health care for our associates and their families, and keeps Kroger competitive," said John Hackett, president of Kroger's Mid-South division, which includes Nashville.

Bruce Lucia, president of Kroger's Atlanta division, which includes Knoxville and Huntsville, added, "Our associates did a fine job of maintaining a focus on customer service during this process, and we appreciate their efforts."

The agreement covers more than 8,500 Kroger associates who work in more than 90 stores in and around Nashville, Knoxville, and Huntsville.
