Kroger, Yoplait Paint the Town Pink To Fight Breast Cancer

To help celebrate The Kroger Co. celebrate its recent $1 million milestone donation to local Komen affiliates through the “Kroger Salutes Survivors” program, Yoplait helped wrap the philanthropic-minded retailer’s corporate headquarters building in downtown Cincinnati in pink to support breast cancer awareness.

The effort -- aimed to remind Cincinnati citizens about the importance of the cause of finding a cure for breast cancer -- was integrated with the Susan G. Komen Cincinnati Race for the Cure, which took place on September 12, 2009.

In addition, Yoplait and Kroger will donate up to $10,000 to local Susan G. Komen for the Cure affiliates this fall through the retailer’s ongoing “Kroger Salutes Survivor” program. Since 2000, Kroger and Yoplait have worked together to support Komen for the Cure’s mission to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease.

For the 11th consecutive year, Yoplait will once again turn its lids pink this September and October for the Save Lids to Save Lives program. The yogurt brand will also donate 10 cents to Susan G. Komen for the Cure for every pink lid sent in by December 31, 2009, up to $1.5 million, with a guaranteed donation of $500,000.

Kroger operates 2,475 supermarkets and multi-department stores in 31 states under two dozen local banners.
