    Linda Stewart Named ‘Louise Brookshire Spirit Award’ Winner

    The award is presented annually to an outstanding woman in the company.

    Brookshire Grocery Co. has named Linda Stewart – its distribution systems director at the Tyler distribution center -- the 2010 winner of the grocer’s Louise Brookshire Spirit Award, which is presented annually to an outstanding woman in the company who demonstrates outstanding integrity, professionalism, service, and loyalty.

    “We congratulate Linda, who is well-deserving of this award,” said Rick Rayford, BGC president and CEO. “We thank her for her unwavering service to our company.”

    The award is named after the company’s co-founder.

    Stewart joined BGC’s distribution operations in 1986 as an administrative assistant. During her career she served as a systems trainer, warehouse systems clerk, systems coordinator, and systems manager before being promoted to director in 2007.

    Tyler, Texas-based BGC operates 151 stores in three states with three distribution centers and seven manufacturing facilities.
