The Little Utz Girl Bows Own Blog

After over 89 years as the cheerily mute symbol of Hanover, Pa.-based Utz Quality Foods, The Little Utz Girl is finally having her say, courtesy of a new blog and Facebook page that will enable the popular snack brand’s fans to hear directly from her at last on such topics as industry news, recipes and what it’s like to be a corporate icon.

One of the few blogs written from the viewpoint of a company mascot, Snack Central (UtzSnackCentral.com) will be updated several times a week. In addition to recipes, product reviews, snack facts and consumer photos, the blog will host monthly polls and give away free Utz snacks to randomly selected readers. The Little Utz Girl will additionally answer readers' questions, with the assistance of a panel of company snacking experts. All e-mails will receive a personalized response.

“The Little Utz Girl has spent a lot of time at community fairs and sporting events, silently hugging children and posing for pictures with fans,” noted Utz EVP of sales and marketing Dylan Lissette. “Now she’ll have a voice and a chance to bring her personality to life. I think once people get to know her on Facebook and on the blog, they’ll realize that she’s not just the face on the Utz bag — she’s a character a lot of people can really relate to.”

Utz makes over 90 flavors or varieties of snacks, including potato chips, pretzels, tortilla and corn chips, cheese curls, popcorn, baked crisps, sunflower chips, and natural and organic lines.
