Loblaw Freezes Prices

To help its customers save money, Loblaw Cos., Ltd. has rolled out what it refers to as Canada's biggest-ever price freeze ever. For the entire month of January, prices will remain constant of thousands of grocery, fresh, HBC, and general merchandise products in every aisle, across all Loblaw banners.

"We'll do whatever we can to help our customers make it through these financially challenging times," said Loblaw v.p., public affairs and investor relations Inge van den Berg. "That's why we're happy to freeze pricing on such a huge array of products across the board in our stores so customers need not worry about inflation or the price of their food -- it's the least we can do to show customers our support and help them start 2009 off on the right foot."

A subsidiary of George Weston, Ltd., Loblaw is Canada's largest food distributor and a leading provider of drug store, general merchandise, and financial products and services. With over 1,000 corporate and franchised stores across, Loblaw and its franchisees employ over 140,000 full-time and part-time associates.
