Lunds, Byerly's Back Baseball-Themed Fundraiser for Second Harvest Heartland
Lund Food Holdings, Inc.'s two retail banners are gearing up for a charitable event that will benefit Second Harvest Heartland with matching donations of up to $10,000 via the Crispin Iceball Adventure Game at Midway Stadium, home of the St. Paul Saints.
The Edina, Minn.-based operator of 10 Lunds and 11 Byerly's supermarkets in the Twin Cities and surrounding areas is teaming up with Crispin Natural Hard Apple Cider for an afternoon of festivities on Saturday, Feb. 28, which will enlist donations of cash, food and warm clothing. Every dollar raised during the event will be matched by Lunds and Byerly's up to $10,000 -- the equivalent of $90,000 in food for the needy.
The Greatest Baseball Adventure Over Ice is a five-inning outdoor ballgame that offers everything a regular season Saints game provides: lively between-innings promotions (only this time in the snow), appearances by two-legged mascot Mudonna and entertainment for kids of all ages.
The festivities begin at 1:30 p.m., when the Saints open their parking lot for tailgating. At 2 p.m., patrons can enjoy a live band, a tailgating cooking demonstration and other entertainment.
