Lunds, Byerly's Launch Reusable Bag Campaign

Lunds and Byerly's grocery stores are launching a new effort to encourage shoppers to reuse grocery bags. Dubbed "Reuse and Reward," the program will donate five cents to Second Harvest Heartland for every reusable bag used to bag a customer's groceries. The Upper Midwest's largest hunger relief organization will in turn transfer every five-cent donation into 45 cents worth of food for those in need.

The Edina, Minn.-based Lunds and Byerly's, which collectively operate 21 locations throughout the metro Twin Cities area, will also donate $10,000 to Second Harvest at the Crispin Iceball, an outdoor baseball game that takes place at Midway Stadium in St. Paul on Saturday, Feb. 28.

Lunds and Byerly's reusable bags, which cost $1.50 each, can be folded and snapped into a compact square for easy storage in a purse, briefcase or backpack.
