EDINA, Minn. -- Lund Food Holdings Inc. here, parent of Lunds and Byerly's supermarkets, is enjoying success with an Eat Local marketing effort launched this summer to promote its relationships with local produce suppliers.
Headlining the effort is a series of company-designed in-store posters featuring colorful photos and narratives of a number of its local farmer suppliers, which are also available on its online store at www.lundsandbyerlys.com.
"It's about meeting our customers' expectations and them wanting to know more about the food that they buy," Rick Steigerwald, Lunds and Byerly's produce director was quoted as saying in local press reports. "This year, we decided to drill down and inform our customers where they're grown, which farms."
Steigerwald said early sales results for the program have been "very favorable."
Edina-based Lund Food Holdings, Inc. operates 10 Lunds and 11 Byerly’s supermarkets in the Twin Cities and surrounding area.
