Lunds/Byerly’s to Deploy 2-Sided Receipt Printers

The grocer expects the printers to reduce waste and energy consumption, and improve operational efficiencies

Lund Food Holdings Inc., parent company of Lunds and Byerly’s supermarkets, is deploying a new point-of-sale (POS) solution featuring two-sided thermal receipt printing to support its sustainability efforts and improve operational efficiencies.

The retailer is using the NCR RealPOS Two-Sided Thermal Printer, which simultaneously prints on both sides of a thermal paper receipt, reducing paper consumption by up to 40 percent, according to NCR.

“We are always exploring ways in which we can reduce our waste and energy consumption,” said Aaron Sorenson, spokesperson for Lund. “Through the implementation of two-sided thermal receipt printing at our Lunds Plymouth and Byerly’s Maple Grove stores we will continue to further reduce our environmental impact.”

In addition to NCR’s two-sided thermal receipt printing, Lunds is also using NCR’s RealPOS 80XRT workstation, RealPOS High Performance Scanner/Scale, and NCR two-sided thermal receipt paper rolls.

Lunds operates 21 Lunds and Byerly's supermarkets in and around the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area.
