Mark Coborn To Retire

Coborn’s Inc. EVP Mark Coborn will retire from his post in the coming weeks.

In announcing his decision, the fourth generation grocer said, “It has been an honor and a privilege to work with the many talented and dedicated employees at Coborn’s. I have appreciated their hard-working and caring spirit. Under the direction of our leadership team," he continued, "I am confident that Coborn’s will continue to succeed as I transition out of my role and embark on my retirement journey."

A successor has not yet been to named to fill the post held by Coborn, who will continue to serve on the company’s board of directors. 

"As a fellow fourth generation family member of Coborn’s, I sincerely appreciate the years of service that Mark has given to us,” said Coborn’s president and CEO Chris Coborn. “He has always championed doing what is best for our employees. I am thankful that he will still serve in his role on the board of directors, where he will continue to advocate for reinvestment and growth.”

Mark Coborn began his career with Coborn’s at age 13 in 1975 cleaning the parking lot at the Coborn’s store in Sauk Rapids, Minn. He eventually rose through the ranks, including training director, human resources director, VP of human resources and, eventually, EVP.

St. Cloud, Minn.-based Coborn’s Inc. is an employee-owned grocery retail company that owns and operates 45 grocery supermarkets throughout the upper Midwest under the Coborn’s, Cash Wise Foods, Economart, Food Pride and Save-A-Lot banners.
