    Marsh Appoints Sales, Nutrition Managers

    Indiana grocer taps corporate staff, academia for new positions

    Melinda Hustmyer has been promoted to sales and promotion marketing manager at Indianapolis-based Marsh Supermarkets.

    “With our renewed focus on our major marketing and customer loyalty initiatives, this new position is imperative to Marsh’s success, in regards to being relevant and responsive to our customers daily needs” said Joe Kelley, Marsh chairman, president and CEO.

    Hustmyer will oversee social media, online resources, direct mail, customer shopping insights, market research insights and in-store and print media. She will also spearhead renewed emphasis on customer loyalty marketing. Hustmyer will report to John Kelly, senior VP of marketing. “Melinda brings much energy and knowledge to the Marsh Marketing Department,” Kelly said. “We look forward to her innovative contribution to the team.”

    Hustmyer joined Marsh in 2008 as a co-manager trainee and became a co-manager in January 2009. She joined the corporate staff as corporate sales coordinator in October 2009.

    Additionally, Mary Snell has joined Marsh as director of nutrition and wellness marketing. “Mary’s role is a much needed role for Marsh,” Kelley said. “As our commitment to being a resource to our customers is a major priority to Marsh, Mary will fulfill that need.”

    Snell will serve as a resource for both customers and employees on food and nutrition-related topics with emphasis on food choice education. Snell also will report to Kelly in the marketing department. “Mary will share her years of knowledge and expertise in healthful eating, diet and exercise,” Kelly said. “We have a strong commitment to family nutrition, and we continue to evolve with our customers’ needs and nutrition goals.”

    Snell, who formerly held a teaching position at Ball State University, earned a bachelor of science degree in dietetics from Purdue University and a master’s degree from Texas A&M University in food science and technology and has more than 25 years of experience as a diet and nutrition educator.

    Marsh operates 72 Marsh, 3 O’Malia’s Supermarkets and 22 MainStreet Markets in Indiana and Ohio, with 40 Indiana pharmacy locations.
