McNeil Nutritionals, the maker of Splenda Sweeteners, has teamed up with journalist Lisa Ling to launch Nectresse Natural No Calorie Sweetener, currently available at stores nationwide.
Nectresse derives its natural sweetness from the monk fruit – a small, green melon cultivated in Asia – combined with other natural ingredients to deliver the sweetness of sugar without the excess calories.
“Recognizing that many consumers like to sweeten with natural ingredients, we are pleased to provide them with another option to enjoy all the sweet things they love, while reducing the calories from sugar in their diet,” said Michael Conway, president of Fort Washington, Pa.-based McNeil Nutritionals.
Nectresse spokeswoman Ling is supporting the launch effort by promoting the benefits of the new sweetener via video testimonial. Consumers are encouraged to help spread the word by posting the video on their social networks.
“As someone with a family history of diabetes, no-calorie sweeteners have always been a part of my life,” said Ling. “But until I tried Nectresse Sweetener, they were always just a way to cut back on sugar. Nectresse Sweetener is different. It has the rich, sweet taste of sugar and I really love that it satisfies my sweet tooth in a way that fits my healthy lifestyle, too.”
Nectresse can also be used in cooking and baking to add sweetness to consumers’ favorite beverages and foods such as pie, salad dressing and chili.
