Meijer Bows 'Gov Rebate Booster' Program

Supercenter pioneer latest to offer $30 incentives for stimulus check program.

As the next retailer to step up with a plan to help consumers extend the U.S. government's economic stimulus payment checks going out this week, Meijer is bowing a "Government Rebate Booster" program that will provide a $30 coupon for every $300 Meijer gift card purchased. All coupons will be valid for any general merchandise or apparel purchase.

"This program is designed to add a little more stimulus to the stimulus checks," said Frank Guglielmi, director of public relations for Meijer. "This will allow our customers to increase the buying power of their economic stimulus payments in a unique way." Gift card amounts correspond to the payment amounts outlined by the Internal Revenue Service for the federal economic stimulus program.

Meijer's economic stimulus bonus program will run through the month of May.

Meijer operates 181 supercenters throughout Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio and Kentucky.
