Meijer Tests New HP Digital Photo Kiosks

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Meijer Inc. here became the first retailer in the country to introduce Hewlett-Packard's advanced Digital Photo Center Solution kiosks in its photo departments.

Hewlett-Packard said it selected Meijer's 181 supercenters in Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, and Kentucky to test the digital photo systems in advance of a national roll-out, according to press reports.

The digital HP Photo Center solution, which includes the HP Photosmart Studio and Microlab products, replaces the traditional photo developing systems formerly found in the stores and allows customers to print large posters

As previously reported, HP will support the Meijer’s launch of the complete digital, end-to-end photo center solution and will host Meijer's online photo site, including the capability to have online orders for prints and creative photo products mailed directly to a customer's home or sent to a Meijer location for fast, high-quality printing and convenient in-store pick up.

With over 40 different departments within each store, including pharmacies in all of its locations, Meijer operates stores in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky.
