NACDS Appoints Trade Group Vet VP of Media Relations

ALEXANDRIA, Va. - The National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) yesterday appointed Capitol Hill and trade association veteran Christine M. Shott as its v.p. of media relations, capping off the association's creation of a newly organized marketing, communications, and media relations department.

Most recently, Shott was director of media relations at the National Restaurant Association. Previously, she served for six years as a Congressional staff member in offices in both the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. She worked in communications or legislative capacities for the Senate Republican Conference, Sen. Rick Santorum (PA), and Rep. J. Randy Forbes (VA), Rep. Melissa A. Hart (PA), and Rep. William F. Goodling (PA).

On April 4, NACDS announced a restructuring to create the marketing, communications, and media relations department to "ensure NACDS is aggressively promoting the value of community pharmacy to the American people, and to the target audiences that impact the image and the success of the industry," according to NACDS president and c.e.o. Steven C. Anderson.

Shott will assume her new role effective July 9, 2007, and will report to Christopher P. Krese, s.v.p. of marketing, communications, and media relations.
