July is National Blueberry Month, and Naturipe Farms, a large producer of fresh blueberries globally, is urging retailers to get behind its new “Ripe Time to Display” contest for retailers large and small. Entrants can submit photos of blueberry displays 16 square feet or larger, garnering extra points for creativity and cross-merchandising combinations. The grand prize winner will receive airfare, hotel and entry to the PMA Fresh Summit 2009 in Anaheim, Calif.
Blueberries are harvested from mid-March through early October in North America, with harvest reaching its peak in July. Known for their abilities to add color, flavor and nutrition to any meal or snack, Naples, Fla.-based Naturipe encourages retailers to remind consumers that blueberries are easy to use, require no preparation and are a healthy, tasty solution for busy families.
