NCA to Launch Candy Industry Trade Publication

The National Confectioners Association (NCA) said yesterday it would launch Candy & Snack TODAY magazine in fall 2009. The new trade publication is designed to fill a key need identified by NCA’s new strategic plan: a single, strong voice to reach buyers and wholesalers.

“A primary NCA responsibility emphasized in our strategic plan is to communicate industry information to members of the U.S. confectionery community,” said NCA president Larry Graham. “NCA believes there is a role for a top-notch print publication geared toward the buyer segment that would benefit from the timely news and information NCA has to offer. By publishing our own magazine, NCA has the opportunity to use its resources to tackle emerging issues from the buyer’s perspective in a way no other publication can.” Graham will be publisher of the new magazine.

Set to be published on a bimonthly schedule, Candy & Snack TODAY aims to be the exclusive news and information source both in print and online, offering content to readers at every level in the buying process.

“Candy & Snack TODAY will differentiate itself by focusing on unique editorial pieces not available in other trade magazines,” noted NCA chairman Michael Gilmore. “Features and columns will cover success strategies from key professionals in the confectionery and snack industry, as well as cutting-edge consumer trends reports, political climate updates and new product innovations alerts.”

NCA will team with ProPress, Inc., a publishing firm with 22 years of experience in the candy and snack industry, to manage Candy & Snack TODAY. Until recently, the staff was the editorial, sales and design team for the trade publications Professional Candy Buyer and Candy and Snack Business.

Teresa Tarantino will be the magazine’s editor-in-chief, and Steve Forster has joined as executive editor.

More information on the publication, along with Candy & Snack TODAY media kits, will be available at the upcoming All Candy Expo, as well as by e-mail at [email protected].
