Smart & Final Extra! plans to open a 45,000-square-foot store at San Dimas Plaza in San Dimas, Calif., at a location formerly occupied by a Kroger-owned Ralph’s.
“Our product offering at Smart & Final Extra! is unlike any other retailer – we combine the high quality fresh produce of a farmers market, the low prices of a discount grocer and the large club-size products of a traditional club store,” said Dave Hirz, Smart & Final president and CEO. “In addition, we have everything that small businesses, clubs and organizations need on a daily basis – all with no club card or membership fees.”
The 119,157-square-foot shopping center is anchored by a 25,200-square-foot T.J. Maxx, alongside national retailers such as Rite Aid, Payless ShoeSource, Sprint and RadioShack.
“While it is unfortunate that Ralphs decided to close this location, a new Smart & Final Extra! will add energy to the shopping center and serve as a focal point for everyday shopping needs in the area,” said Brian Finnegan, SVP of leasing and redevelopment for Brixmor Property Group, a national owner and operator of grocery-anchored community and neighborhood shopping centers that leased the property to Smart & Final.
Brixmor owns and operates a portfolio of more than 520 properties aggregating approximately 87 million square feet located primarily across the top 50 U.S. MSAs. Headquartered in New York City, Brixmor is the largest landlord -- by gross leasable area -- to The TJX Companies and Kroger, according to the company.
