New York Gift Fair Expands Personal Care and Wellness

Personal care and wellness is a hot growth category for the New York International Gift Fair (NYIGF), a premier gift, home and lifestyle marketplace offering a wealth of design-driven home products and giftware. The NYIGF will welcome some 2,900 exhibiting companies and 30,000 attendees from all 50 states and around the world during its summer market slated for Saturday, Aug. 15, through Thursday, Aug. 20, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and Passenger Ship Terminal Pier 94.

“Consumer interest in personal care and wellness has never been higher, and EX•TRACTS® is growing to meet that demand,” says Melissa Engongoro, sales manager. EX•TRACTS® — the NYIGF’s personal care and wellness area — has undergone a 30 percent expansion of floor space for the summer market. “Today’s consumers are eco-aware and socially responsible, and this has led to tremendous demand for natural and organic beauty products,” notes Engongoro. “At the same time, a tight economy has resulted in more consumer spending and ‘splurging’ for self-pampering products like skin creams, lotions, cosmetics and candles.”

Among newcomers to the EX•TRACTS® division’s 100 exhibiting companies are: Diana B., Dayna Decker, Jimmy Jane and Trapp Candles; and Jaqua returning to the market following a brief absence. In connection with the division’s growth, returning exhibitors Seda France, Sohum Cosmetics, Soular Therapy and Voluspa are all expanding their exhibit space.
