NFL's Earl Campbell to Attend Super 1 Foods Ribbon Cutting

Football legend Earl Campbell will participate in the ribbon-cutting ceremony on Nov. 7 at the Super 1 Foods new 58,000-square-foot store on East Gentry Parkway in Tyler, Texas.

The National Football League Hall-of-Fame player and Heisman Trophy winner also markets Earl Campbell Meat Products; so, there will be plenty of sausage and hot links on the grill when Super 1 Foods kicks off its grand opening at the north Tyler store, as well as the company’s two other recently remodeled locations in “America’s Rose Capital.”

“We’ve put a lot of planning, funds and work into these projects and look forward to officially unveiling the stores to shoppers,” said Rick Rayford, president and CEO of Tyler-based Brookshire Grocery Co., parent company of the Super 1 Foods brand in Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas. “We’re especially glad Earl can be here to help us celebrate, along with our employees and customers.”

Additional participants will include city and county officials, as well as community leaders from the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce, Hispanic Business Alliance, and Tyler Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce.

Local officials helped the football legend and Tyler native establish the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, to be presented annually to the country’s outstanding Division I senior college offensive football player.  Since 2006, the football field at Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium has been known as Earl Campbell Field.
