Wegmans' Dave DeLaus Joins GS1 Board

Wegmans Food Markets SVP and CIO Dave DeLaus has joined the GS1 US Board of Governors, where he will assist in guiding the GS1 US strategy for driving adoption and usage of GS1 Standards across multiple industries.

Said to be the most widely used information standards worldwide, GS1 Standards uniquely identify products, services and locations globally, helping to enhance supply chain and ecommerce efficiencies – as well as the in-store and digital shopping experiences – for consumers.

A retail grocery and technology veteran, DeLaus has served in several executive leadership capabilities throughout his 31-year tenure at Rochester, N.Y.-based Wegmans. As SVP and CIO, he is responsible for the vision, strategy and execution of all information systems powering the company.

Prior to that role, DeLaus served as VP of IT development, and in other leadership roles across operations, support and procurement. He also serves as chairman of the Arlington, Va.-based Food Marketing Institute’s Technology Leadership Board and is the program’s co-chair for the Western New York chapter of the Society for Information Management.

The GS1 US Board of Governors include executives from 20 leading organizations, including such grocers and CPGs as Publix Super Markets, Wakefern Food Corp., Wal-Mart Stores Inc., Wegmans, Campbell Soup Co., the Coca-Cola Co., the J.M. Smucker Co., Johnson & Johnson and Procter & Gamble.
